"364 Days"

by Mark Buerschaper

/

about

A Christmas tunes about the fortunate, unfortunate and perspectives regarding both during the holiday season.

lyrics

The lights are shining, down on the avenue
Windows displays have animation and glitter
In the lower drive, the homeless huddle and shiver
Waiting for the hawk, that delivers harsh winters

And on this day a choir sings
Along with gifts that Santa brings
364 days, bring a reckoning

Soup lines form, cameras take their places
A lost audience the lost faces
The evening news features, holiday shoppers in jail
For fighting over the last minute holiday sales

And on this day a choir sings
Along with gifts that Santa brings
364 days, bring a reckoning

Festivities will come
Goodwill towards men may go
In the candlelight, or the alleys that are freezing cold
Hearts of thankfulness
Minds of want and greed
Compete among the colored lights, it's guaranteed

Everybody has
Their reason for the season
Sale coupons are not the only thing in need of redeeming

The light are shining,
Down on the avenue
They shine on me and they shine upon you

And on this day a choir sings
Along with gifts that Santa brings
364 days, bring a reckoning

Mark Buerschaper Nashville, Tennessee

Since Aug. 2020, Mark has begun releasing the singles from his album, "One Year B.C." The album features the full gamut of his style which runs from introspective folk to novelty and alternative indie genres. Much of the commentary is about perceived social norms. ... more
