"Don't You Know That It's Christmas Time Again?"

by Mark Buerschaper

/

about

A holiday fable that concerns some of the more costly and unsavory aspects of the holiday season.

lyrics

I put the lights, upon the tree
Stuffed cookies in my mouth 3 by 3
Don't you know, that it's Christmas
Time Again

I got a fruitcake in the mail
No matter when it's sent it is always stale
Don't you know that it's Christmas Time again?

And it's the time of year to sing about a midnight clear
And it's the time of year when your
in laws come over and they drink all
your wine and beer

My outdoor lights, cost me my wages
My electric bill is higher than a
casino in Las Vegas
Don't you know that it's Christmas Time again?
I put toys together the wrong way
It really doesn't matter, the kids
will break them anyway
Don't you know that it's Christmas time again?

And it's the time of year to drink eggnog and feel fine
But you'll lose that buzz, when you stand in a department store line

My credit card balance is getting higher
I'm going to buy a yule log and throw them on the fire
Don't you know that it's Christmas time again?
So enjoy the season and your turkey
Cause come next year you'll be dining on beef jerky
Don't you know that it's Christmas time again?

And it's the time of year to sing about a midnight clear
And it's the time of year when your
in laws come over and they drink all
your wine and beer

I put the lights, upon the tree
Stuffed cookies in my mouth 3 by 3
Don't you know, that it's Christmas
Time Again
Don't you know, that it's Christmas
Time Again
Don't you know, that it's Christmas
Time Again

about

Mark Buerschaper Nashville, Tennessee

Since Aug. 2020, Mark has begun releasing the singles from his album, "One Year B.C." While all of the material was written during the stages of the Covid era, Mark likes to say that 1 and 1/2 songs are only about Covid. The album features the full gamut of his style which runs from introspective folk to novelty and alternative indie genres. Much of the commentary is about perceived social norms. ... more
