I'd do anything to get to you

about

A nightmare. Extremely vivid. Had to make a song out of it. What else was I going to do with it?

lyrics

I walked into a forest minus guarantees
With underbrush rising to my knees
Approaching the twisted roots of trees
I had a spinning sensation of feeling free

Twirling along the twisted roots
I earned my cuts from knee to foot
Hoping to see you somewhere ahead
My heart filled with wonder and dread

While floating on the banks of a creek
Many white pine structures were in view
I jumped the creek and walked on through
While searching and hoping to find you

A punk king there tried to stare me down
I returned the favor while his court gathered around
He cut my hand to intimidate
So I gave him a fist as to reciprocate

The pot was stirred, the march proceeded
I walked away unoticed, unheeded
Stepping into a room lined with cedar
It was crawling with little insect creatures

They gathered benath me talking to each other
While I floated above them with a buffer hover
Exiting the area I was quite relieved
While what then found was not to be believed

The lobby had gathered the staff and guests
To save them from the punk King's jests.
His minion put fear and doubt into their eyes
While I tried to rouse them with a war cry

So while they stood in paralyzed and spineless
I did my best to reunite us
Tearing through demons 30 by 2
Tearing through demons trying to find my way back to you

Mark Buerschaper Nashville, Tennessee

Since Aug. 2020, Mark has begun releasing the singles from his album, "One Year B.C." While all of the material was written during the stages of the Covid era, Mark likes to say that 1 and 1/2 songs are only about Covid. The album features the full gamut of his style which runs from introspective folk to novelty and alternative indie genres. Much of the commentary is about perceived social norms. ... more
