"Karaoke Star"

by Mark Buerschaper

/

about

While karaoke is nothing new, it's disgusting hold on the lack of public imagination remains firmly entrenched within the realm of modern society.

lyrics

As a painter, you would paint in the lines
In control, of your soul and your mind
But the limitations ruin social time
More direct exposure would be so divine

You're a karaoke star, you're going to fly high and far

Go to the gym, tone up those limbs
While the news of the world is getting quite grim
T.V. channels turning, yes you are learning
Personal development, while the cities are burning

You're a karaoke star, you're going to fly high and far
Just don't go and burn up, like previous meteors

So you drink, to have the nerve to sing
And you think, you have something to bring
Put on your favorite clothes, and your very best bling
At the end of the night, you haven't said anything

You're a karaoke star, you're going to fly high and far
Just don't go and burn up, like previous meteors

But you're a star now, and you really know how
To go and make alll the right faces, you know all the song databases

A Nobel peace prize, for the ability to socialize
A plague upon the land, it came from Japan
From rapper to rockstar, from crooner to folkie
Are you really anybody, when you are singing karaoke?

You're a karaoke star, you're going to fly high and far
Just don't go and burn up, like previous meteors

Mark Buerschaper Nashville, Tennessee

Since Aug. 2020, Mark has begun releasing the singles from his album, "One Year B.C." While all of the material was written during the stages of the Covid era, Mark likes to say that 1 and 1/2 songs are only about Covid. The album features the full gamut of his style which runs from introspective folk to novelty and alternative indie genres. Much of the commentary is about perceived social norms. ... more
