about

A rollicking track about a union steward with dubious principles.

lyrics

So you buy a dinner here
And get a raffle ticket there
While being sure to pay monthly dues
Chucky pretends he cares

Working man's justice will be served
it's the union rally cry
Go home and feel safe and secure
While Chucky cranks out more lies

The contract it was finished
As we waited for the retro pay
Chucky stopped by the maintenance shop
Claiming to haves saved the day

Chucky liked to pat his back
Three or maybe four times
While we worried future layoffs
And a cut in the overtime

Chucky would lighten the moment
With tales of the Korean war
Jumping out of airplanes
Jumping on the war time whores

We were told to buy American
Chucky said there was nothing finer
So we bought a union timepiece
That said it was made in China

Then one day I got in a jam
Even though I was innocent
Chucky said not to worry,
It was a minor incident

Chucky through me under the bus
He said don't make any waves
In god I trust, but not old Chucky
Because with pressure he caves

As a young small time boxer
Chucky had won some fights
Faking and jabbing and rope a dope
Took him to new heights

While as an engineer
He was filled with fear
When election time came near
Each and every year, yeah each and every year

Mark Buerschaper Nashville, Tennessee

Since Aug. 2020, Mark has begun releasing the singles from his album, "One Year B.C." While all of the material was written during the stages of the Covid era, Mark likes to say that 1 and 1/2 songs are only about Covid. The album features the full gamut of his style which runs from introspective folk to novelty and alternative indie genres. Much of the commentary is about perceived social norms. ... more
