War For The Common Man

by Mark Buerschaper

/

about

History repeats itself. The tactics and techniques to promote public support for a war also remain constant.

lyrics

My father once told me a story
About a war and it's glory
God would choose the winning side
God chose who lived and died

So now I watch the evening news
With opinions of radical religious views
A topic to manipulate the masses
The under educated lower classes

The bombs fell and the heads they rolled
While the lower class was bought and sold
Some wore masks, some used drones
While the common man lost life and home

The acts of violence were condemned
Then condemned again and again
With no solution to a common end
While the young predict Armageddon

So this is all accordance with god's plan
The extinction of his creation called man
We tend to praise, we tend to kill
We tend do it as we call it god's will

But what all the King's treasures?
The assets and the money
Corporate interests in other countries
We rarely hear about or ever see

So history remains the same
We praise our gods and spread the blame
While one man's mighty freedom fighter
Is anothers evil terrorizer

The album features the full gamut of his style which runs from introspective folk to novelty and alternative indie genres. Much of the commentary is about perceived social norms. ... more
