"Tennessee Sun"

by Mark Buerschaper

/

about

Having moved from Chicago to Nashville was quite the change in environments. This song documents a period of adjustment.

lyrics

The thunder rattles windows where it sit
It signals cool air and I relish it
A refreshing north wind is here with rain
Soothing my soul, calming my brain
Calming my brain

I've been in Nashville for one full year
In search of a job, forget the career
After the election I expected change
Unemployment dogs me with it's mange
With it's mange

The Tennessee sun burns in the sky
Slowing the clock, squinting the eyes
I do miss the Lake Michigan breeze
Even the winters that made me freeze

Scavenger birds eat their roadkill
Never mind the morals
hey it's God's will
Feast upon the prey, prey upon the feast
It's dog eat dog down in the southeast
In the south east

The Tennessee sun burns in the sky
Slowing the clock, squinting the eyes
I do miss the Lake Michigan breeze
Even the winters that made me freeze

The thunder rattles windows where I sit
It signals cool air and I relish it

The album features the full gamut of his style which runs from introspective folk to novelty and alternative indie genres. Much of the commentary is about perceived social norms. ... more
