"Carousel in the Mall"

about

Sometimes the happiest places are the loneliest places.

lyrics

An artificial sun in an artificial cafe
Vendors beckon me with food to sell
I purchase a plate and sit across the way
From the abandoned carousel

Carousel in the Mall
The sun shines through the skylight
The children are out to play
But maybe, they'll come out tonight

Overhead speaker blast overhead
Loaded with fake drama, it's easy to tell
I ignore the sound and resume
My interest the abandoned carousel

Carousel in the Mall
The sun shines through the skylight
The children are out to play
But maybe, they'll come out tonight

Many lights are in need of replacing
Horses sit silently and dwell
In an American mall with shoppers pacing
As I stare at the carousel

Carousel in the Mall
The sun shines through the skylight
The children are out to play
But maybe, they'll come out tonight

My old bones wish to seated
A solitary moment that comforts me well
Advertising procedures must be repeated
While it's time to leave the carousel

Carousel in the Mall
The sun shines through the skylight
The children are out to play
But maybe, they'll come out tonight

The album features the full gamut of his style which runs from introspective folk to novelty and alternative indie genres. Much of the commentary is about perceived social norms. ... more
