Retro Chameleon Days

by Mark Buerschaper

about

A little bit of self reflection on my years in music. It's pretty self indulgent however I am nearing the end of my days in music so I feel I should get to do one of these types of songs even though, like most songwriters, I did many of these song in my early days.

lyrics

In my days of learning
While being naive and yearning
For knowledge, fame and acceptance
A rock and roll spewing apprentice

Figuring out all the puzzle pieces
Shelving ideas of masterpieces
While forcing a self imposed thesis
Ironing out the musical creases

Retro Chameleon Days
Changing colors to suit my ways
I bend the notes to bend your ear
What will be my colors next year

In my youth I had the grace and speed
To slip through passages without fatigue
I really had very little to say
A teenager's cares were modest in those days

Retro Chameleon Days
Changing colors to suit my ways
I bend the notes to bend your ear
What will be my colors next year

Schoolboy values change throughout the years
Long ago I shifted gears
From epic opus to a story to tell
Guitar fingers cramp, arthritis is hell

Retro Chameleon Days
Changing colors to suit my ways
I bend the notes to bend your ear
What will be my colors next year

The album features the full gamut of his style which runs from introspective folk to novelty and alternative indie genres. Much of the commentary is about perceived social norms. ... more
