Chocolate, Roses and Diamonds

about

This song summed up a Valentines Day weekend during which time I visited my wife during a Long Island New York snowstorm only to return to a Nashville Tennessee ice storm.

lyrics

We watched the twilight snowflakes
Swirl around and land upon the pier
The dinner was not what we had expected
But we had nice romantic atmosphere

The valentine weekend  we had together
Went by like a cliched New York minute
We survived the snowy sub zero weather
ignoring the icy cold while we were in it

I'm missing passing time with you
It was a short time on Long Island
Flying back to the frozen Tennessee fields
Thinking about chocolate, roses and diamonds

I bide my time while you proceeded
To assemble your new found career
I searched out guitars and favorite
Cigars in the new east coast frontier

A year, a contract and dollar signs
Paved the  way to a depressed state of mind
To temporary bachelor days, I'm resigned
While you proclaim that are feeling like you are doing time

The bus dropped me off in the frozen field
The ice on my car refused to yield
The jet lag left my heart on the island
With a sense of loss slightly heightened

Mark Buerschaper Nashville, Tennessee

Since Aug. 2020, Mark has begun releasing the singles from his album, "One Year B.C." The album features the full gamut of his style which runs from introspective folk to novelty and alternative indie genres. Much of the commentary is about perceived social norms. ... more
