about

Some people come to Nashville with good intentions. Most come to be a music star. This is dedicated to the latter.

lyrics

The sun is setting on this town
As neon lights light up the summer sky
Broken whiskey bottles are laying on the ground
As a honky tonk parade passes by

Pretty faces of even prettier people
Stare down from strategically placed billboards
In the quite lurks a church steeple
Under the noses of music city queens and overlords

Maybe some things will never change
Like wishing to become a star
The sight is common, yet strange
Idol Wannabes with guitars

ee non paying careerA country music crooner in this town
Told me I won't make dollar one here
He wears a stetson hat for his sound
A sign of recognition for a free non paying career

Maybe some things will never change
Like wishing to become a star
The sight is common, yet strange
Idol Wannabes with guitars

Dance little blond haired girl, go and dance
And wish for success that's swift and Taylor made
You look really good in your tight fitting pants
Just don't let that makeup go and fade away

Maybe some things will never change
Like wishing to become a star
The sight is common, yet strange
Idol Wannabes with guitars

As for me, I only wanted some wages
For playing a couple of hours a night
But in music city the songs are 2 to 3
Then it's time to get off the stage and say good night

The sun is rising now on this town
As vomit dries in the noon July heat
The sad song is sung by a street corner rodeo clown
With an open guitar case at his feet

Maybe some things will never change
Like wishing to become a star
The sight is common, yet strange
Idol Wannabes with guitars

about

Mark Buerschaper Nashville, Tennessee

Since Aug. 2020, Mark has begun releasing the singles from his album, "One Year B.C." While all of the material was written during the stages of the Covid era, Mark likes to say that 1 and 1/2 songs are only about Covid. The album features the full gamut of his style which runs from introspective folk to novelty and alternative indie genres. Much of the commentary is about perceived social norms. ... more
